Project Overview

The project is PT Hadiah Surga’s initiative to participate in the global carbon market through the rehabilitation and preservation of mangrove ecosystems, which play an important role in absorbing and storing blue carbon for climate change mitigation.

PT Hadiah Surga plans to collaborate with Riau Province to utilize critical mangrove lands as rehabilitation sites. The project aims to restore the ecological function of mangroves, increase  carbon sequestration, and empower local communities through sustainable conservation programs.

Location

Based on research and data analysis, Riau Province has a large implementation opportunity with a total area of 202,347 hectares of mangrove forests spread across Riau’s coastal areas and small islands.

The project will focus on rehabilitating and conserving forests outside of conservation areas, i.e. forests that are not included in protected forest areas or national conservation areas. The entire project management and implementation process, including licensing, will be carried out with reference to the authority of local governments, both at the provincial (Governor) and district/city (Regent and Mayor) levels
