Project Overview
The project is PT Hadiah Surga’s initiative to participate in the global carbon market through the rehabilitation and preservation of mangrove ecosystems, which play an important role in absorbing and storing blue carbon for climate change mitigation.
PT Hadiah Surga plans to collaborate with Riau Province to utilize critical mangrove lands as rehabilitation sites. The project aims to restore the ecological function of mangroves, increase carbon sequestration, and empower local communities through sustainable conservation programs.
Indonesia’s carbon project ecosystem includes forestry, peatland, mangrove, biogas, cookstoves, and waste-related projects. The forestry market has recently been strengthened by new governance structures and approvals for carbon credit issuance under the national framework.
